Hi! Thanks for the help/responses in advance! Working on a Manco Deuce and needing to replace the shocks. Any idea where a good source for those might be? Everything I have come across has too small of eyes/holes as I believe the Deuce has 1/2” eyes/holes on the factory pieces.

thanks!

Hey there, did you ever figure out what shocks you needed? I have a Dingo Deuce and am looking to replace the shocks but don't know with what.

Hey there, did you ever figure out what shocks you needed?

TexasDeuce hasn't been seen since 1/28/24 but do you know the shock length, diameter and overall specs from the manufacturer (Manco)? Should not be a huge undertaking to find a suitable replacement. The parts listing is #6771 SHOCK BLACK but there are no technical specs.

I came up empty searching for Manco 6771 SHOCK BLACK (some were chrome or other colors)

By the way Manco did not make the shocks, they were likely an OTS (off the shelf) item from a separate supplier and if not, they may have been custom made for Manco to their own specifications. I suspect the former and they might be [rather] common but under a different product number (who knows).

The Manco Deuce and Manco Dingo Deuce were known under model numbers 612 & 618

Confirmed, in case anyone was wondering. The shock bolts were 1/2" diameter (see the above parts lists). If there is enough material (metal) on the eyelets in the shocks you found, why not "hog them out" with a 1/2" drill? Just a possible solution.

12" eye to eye
.500 mount hole

Unfortunately that product listing is only for reference and is no longer for sale there. I like that gokartsusa does that though—they still have discontinued go karts listed there as well which are invaluable for reference.

Found it:

*I (and I suspect WTR) am in no way asserting that these shocks are ideal drop-in replacement shocks for the Manco Deuce, just that they may be suitable.

Wait a minute, that site (gokartsusa.com) isn't even active anymore. Seems all their product listings are "shown for reference only:" Gokartsusa.biz is their new site with things you can actually buy...

Good photo of the elusive Manco Deuce shock, heretofore unseen. 👍

On mine I actually measured 14.25" eye to eye distance, rather than the 12" stated above. For 6771.

Obviously you don't want a shock that is too short, but shocks that are slightly longer than the mount-to-mount distance of the kart suspension at full extension might be ideal. That way you're compressing the spring a little to install it. I'm not sure though, help me answer this, forum dudes! 🤔🧐

The Azusa shocks or the ones on gokartsusa (and no doubt a multitude of others sites) will have to be carefully considered as to the maximum compression load in pounds--you don't want them too stiff but you do want some spring sag I think. Ultimately it depends on how you want to ride it and where I would guess.

Do you think I could just re-use the existing ones rather than trying to buy new? Not sure what to look for to see if they are still 'good'.

I would guess if the kart "porpoises" 〰️〰️〰️ a lot after going over a speed bump, then the shocks are no longer dampening but are just glorified bouncy bouncy springs at that point. It is up to you in the end.

Maybe the pivot points on the front suspension trailing arms need some grease or a maintenance interval? I'd service all the suspension if needed.
