Hey guys so I took apart my driven because the the cam passed the buttons and noticed one was worn down quite a bit. My question is though, based on the pictures does it look like I need to replace any parts? The sparring looks like its lost the tightness. uploadfromtaptalk1415974530093.jpguploadfromtaptalk1415974559896.jpguploadfromtaptalk1415974576540.jpguploadfromtaptalk1415974592420.jpguploadfromtaptalk1415974607146.jpguploadfromtaptalk1415974621806.jpg

The spring looks compressed but since it's a torsion spring as long as the two pins are exactly opposite to each other I'd give it a try and reuse that.

the rest is cleaning and replacing the buttons (~$7) and maybe the bushing (~$5)
(I can't tell if it's just dirt or burrs)

since the spring is only ~$7, you could as well buy it with the buttons (and bushing?)
and since reassembly is not all fun just install it to be on the safe side.

mfgsupply has all the parts

the cam looks okay to me the slopes have some minor scratches but they do not appear worn down.

Cam actually looks pretty bad with uneven wear and a ridge or two. You can use the buttons that weren't worn on the other side and get a new cam.

Sometimes it's less frustrating to just buy a new driven for $50, but I'm sure you can save it.

you think it's not just dirt gran??

I was judging by the second pic mostly .. the slopes look just how they're supposed to look except for a few scars that I'm sure you can smooth out *shrugs*

Maybe a POST-CLEANING pic would be nice to have to make a final judgement ;)

Third pic. You can see on the bottom right that there is a distinct ridge. Will probably hang there. Has been worn on the peaks too that are supposed to hold the wear tabs from sliding past the peak. Unworn tabs would fix it, but it's already missing material that will probably cause irratic engagement with the ridges, or let the belt run more inside the sheaves at low rpm (due to missing material on the cam, it will engage at a different starting ratio with less torque).

With the driven like that when you step on the gas it revs and then lurches forward, but then doesn't transition to the end ratio due to the ridges. Makes for a crappy feeling ride.

Thanks, I thought that's just "less" dirt from the cam being stuck past the first button
(dirt worn off from the buttons left and right of the peak) since in the second pic the 4 slopes looked to be okay...

But I guess you're right.

Sorry Nick, as gran, said.. worn tabs and ridges mean you need a new cam!
that's another $15 I'm afraid.

so where are we? 34? to restore the driven you have or 50 for a clone driven new (90 for the real deal)

You could buy a new one.. but it is a good learning experience to rebuild it and know how everything functions.

Imo I rather fix or repair an original to working status then buy a clone. Idk but if feels great knowing you fixed something and works great. Also when it was working it didnt feel or have any lurching or jumpy starts.

Oh yeah guys sorry I won't be able to fix til Monday beacuse I left it at our shop and I dont have keys. 😔

Alrighty I got it guys. Fixed er up and going about. I see that the cam doesnt fit perfectly but does work. (Images) Also before I had a rough shift from low gear to high but now noticed that it doesn't do that. It felt like when a differential has backlash from 1st to 2nd gear and of course less harsh. Also i cleaned and lubed according to recommendations. Thabks for ya'll s help.
