New to me model 390-00. It appears to have been rode hard and put away wet, as they say. The TC spring was hanging out like it needed more fresh air.

I was thrilled to find that GoPower can sell me springs and buttons. What I don't know is whether this unit is beyond saving. Note that on one of the nubs, there is a new facet worn on it (right hand side of the image). The surfaces on the small disc are galled and uneven.

Could I spend some time working over these surfaces, or is that a lost cause? This will ultimately be a grandkid vehicle, so I'm willing to spend a little more to prevent frustrating downtime for them.

Thanks for your help.

That's toast. How's the drive unit look?

I bet it looks the same. Take it apart and show us pics so you can buy a whole unit at once. Avoid that down time, ya know?

It shall all be replaced by a new unit due to arrive today. Just a general comment on the Manco Dingo after I've gone through all but the drivetrain. This unit has been driven a lot and probably hard. The kingpin bolts were worn. There is a little galling on the hex rear axle but I dressed that down. That said, the only weld that failed is the one where the center sheet metal piece meets the top of the seat back frame. Easy fix. Overall the frame is straight and true and the steering is sound. It is my impression the chassis is well designed and carefully built.

The engine runs but we'll know more around that fact when it's belted in.

I'm no expert on the TCs but if it's fixable and feasible, my stance is to repair and replace worn parts. Buy a new one, right, but fix up this old one you have, keep it for a spare or sell it for MEGABUCKS.

Tons of suckers on Craigslist.
