i have a few times gotten snowblower engines that needed the pulley off. i losened the set screws and gently tapped the key back further into the keyway, with a flattened nail and hammer..

then i put a bunch of towels on the ground, drained the gas and oil of course, picked the engine up by the pulley in one hand and beat the crankshaft out with a hammer.

but cant get a puller.

I assume you mean that you can not afford to buy one at the moment. Do you have a VIP Auto Parts store nearby? They loan out a 4" and a 10".
