Hi,
I was going to refurbish my cent clutch and sell it on eBay. The keyway is sheared so I was going to cut a keyway into it on a mill. I also have some new clutch shoes.
I may also make a new bushing, as the current one is a bit sloppy.

I was going to re-finish the clutch to make it look new (I will sell it as seller refurb). I was either going to nickel plate it (silver) or blacken it (not sure how it works)
Which do you think would appeal to people most?
Rob
Edit: is the bushing meant to be "split"? it is like the maxtorque ss clutch, but a welded construction.

no clue on the bushing. but i would guess that your average ebay person would possibly get the shiny clutch over a different one. but that said max torque may make the clutch black for a reason (not sure what they coat it with), but i have seen shiny clutches. what about keeping it as a spare, or for a future project?

Hi,
Yeah it was originally black, but I thought people would be like: oooh! Shiny :)
I could keep it, but I can't see myself using #219 chain again, or a cent clutch.

What's it going to cost you to have it plated or "blackened" as you put it, and is it really worth the added cost for what you can get for it?

Clean it up, put the new parts on, throw a good hi-temp black on it and call it a day...

It won't cost me anything, as I can do it at school.
Do you think stove paint would work, as I have some.

Heat the clutch up with a torch and get a paint brush and used oil to blue the metal. dont get it red hot or your gona f- with the temper of the metal just enough that it steams. also obviously wear the proper gear for this.. so you dont burn your self
