What's wrong with reed plate? Pretty hard to "F up" cast aluminum.

You could make one....being handy with a Dremel helps.
Make one out of a carbon fiber sheet.
Might actually outperform the original steel.

thanks hadnt thought of making one. i really didnt want to let this little 2 stroke go to the scrap yard. they are a dying breed.

Yes...on 3 or 4 Lawn-Boys...far more demanding than a 50 year old Clinton.

Almost every reed in the RC world is hand done...

A400 reed

You might be able to adjust the existing reed to cover the inlet as there is usually a fair amount of overlap. If so, I would just smooth the broken edge to keep it from getting worse.
