Bought a Red Fox XLT off Craigslist and its in need of some TLC but I jumped right in and tore it apart.

It's at my buddy's body shop and he's going over all the welds to make it stronger and repairing the damaged front end that looks a mess after a very bad weld job.

Ordered new front spindles and front rims, new rear tires and I picked up a 7hp Honda Clone motor today at Harbor Freight for 99 bucks! Better than rebuilding the old snow blower motor someone installed. Think it would have cost me as much to get the motor up and running as it did to start new.

Project is moving along.

I've sourced most of the parts I need. All that is left is the nuts and bolts, literally.

To date:

Found Cart on Craigslist.

Brought it home and discovered whey you should never buy a cart in the dark and rain!

Took cart to my friends body shop. He repaired the front suspension and reinforced many of the welds.

Had it sand blasted which was reportedly a PITA because the cart was powder coated.

It's being repainted but I'm going with a new color.

I bought new rear wheels but am reusing the rear wheels. Discovered the rear sprocket an rear axel bearings are shot so I ordered the bearings and have a shop with a water jet cutting a new sprocket to match the old one.

Replaced the old snow blower motor with a new Honda clone from HF.

Bought a new clutch and new chain.

Bought new front hubs wheels and tires...

Had the seat bottom reupholstered.

Phew, I think thats all... Can't wait to put it back together.

Apparently, our kart is also known as a Manco Dingo. Found the parts digram for the Manco Dingo and it's exactly the same cart.

I was scratching my head on that one... Looked very much like a Dingo to me, but I hadn't commented yes because I wasn't sure if there was a relation.

Got everything ready but my buddy hasn't had time to get paint on the frame. Really itching to put this thing together!

Got all the new tires and hubs in. Just seeing them set up, it's going to be so much better than it was.

I think the boys will get years of enjoyment out of this! Should hold them until they are 16!

Thanks for the info on the clutch, will find out soon as I'll likely be mounting the motor up on Saturday.

What do you use to retain the clutch? Shaft has a threaded hole for a bolt but neither the motor nor the clutch came with the necessary bolt, is it anything special?
