Well I picked up this red kart with a Dingo last June.I have no idea what type of kart it is and was told it was made by a farmer in Iowa years ago.

As of now Ive stripped the seat, motor, bent axle, brakes and everything else. Just have the steering components to remove.

I'll be welding on a new seat pan bottom and back rest. The old one was sheet metal and wood and it was giving way to the forces of nature.

Also found 3 cracks in the frame, ill be cutting them out and sliding rod in the tubing and welding to reinforce it.

Heres how it sits for now..

It is heavy duty. I cant find any numbers anywhere on it and really the closest kart ive found is the Dingo. There are so many differences between them though it makes it hard to believe it wasn't homemade. The frame easily weighs twice as much as either of the Dingo's I have.

Brake parts and axle ordered. Welded the lower straps for the seat, going to brave the blizzard and buy more steel for the back and head rest. Going to cut and weld the breaks in the frame today as well.

Once I finish all the welding and structural support it'll be ready to clean and prime.

On a side note: Every once in awhile my gf will come out to the shop to see what im doing, she finds me staring at the kart and asks me "what are you doing", I try to explain that I get ideas/epiphanies staring at it and it helps me see the end project.

Anyone else zone out at there current project to help them think?

Seat bottom and back rest supports are welded on. Got all i need to fix the frame as well.

Reused the bottom supports and moved them forward a bit to help with the new seat ill be making. Seat back was also lowered and will be made new as well.

A bench vise is a great addition to my shop.. So nice.

My welds are like a German Woman Olympian.. ugly n strong ;)

38" bent axle thought it was tougher than me and a sawzall and the vise..

Further I go the more parts I order. Im going to keep the 72 tooth main sprocket assembly. It's a compression style that was tough as heck to slide off..

Ya those darn type of hubs ar a real pain.
Years ago I had to remove about 20 large pulleys from these big electric motors.
Heat is the key, aswell as a pipe that fits the outer piece. Heat and hit. No broken parts from the pullers after that.

Heat and hit is right man,the "smoke wrench" is always in reach. Also helped there were 2 threaded holes going the opposite way, it allowed 2 bolts to push the sprocket side off. Still was a 24 hr event to get that axle disassembled.

In the sprocket pict the 2 threaded holes are empty. Took me half a day to realize what they were intended for.
