Hey guys, I'm building an off road go kart/ mini dune buggy and for the rear suspension I am going to build a swing arm that has the engine mounted on it. How would you guys attach the swing arm to the frame? Thanks.

I would use a rubber or urethane bushing like ladder bar bushings( I used them for my rear arms) a little give is nice sometimes :) on the cheap for a small cart Shock eye bushings work well enough. all your really trying to do is give yourself a soft spot to take up off side hits, I have see a-arms done with just PVC knotched out and greased but I wouldn't go that route for a rear end. I seriously considered sway bar mounts (big fat bushing with a steel strap mount included) but in the end they didn't work out with my plans. good luck with whatever you come up with!

If you want to make an "independent" swing arm you can go with the "Dougthewelder". More info on that here:

Here are some pics:

You can see that the engine is on the swingarm, but the axle can pivot independently. It is the best form of swingarm, though it is far more complicated to get right.

Hope this helps!
