I want to ditch my current rigid set up and add some shocks. I have some pipe left over from a project and threw some swing arms together(still need to make adjustments). I have some angle iron that i could use to connect them, although im not sure if it would be strong enough. any suggestions/improvments?

my carter has a simple two-bolt attachment. almost like a chariot. a 3' (wide, by 3' deep) U with small gussets, 45* bend, then back to parallel and down say 3" from the engine bay railing. not sure of tube size, but around 1". the engine bay is boxed for strength (make an A out of the U)

it has three 2bolt bearing hangers. what kind of kart do you have? the geometry on mine sucks. the front end is really low( 4"). the back has almost a foot of ground clearance. you know, by adding suspension to the rear, you are gonna want it up front as well. sooner or later.

I made my kart. The frame started out making since but additions to add strength look strange. I know ill end up wanting front suspension, but im not gonna take it offroading THAT much. Its really more of a street kart that im making all terrain.

what's her name? frankenkart? speaking of all terrain, you know the game halo? i've been thinking of ways to make suspension like the warthog's. i know it would take some heavy duty springs and maybe pneumatics or hydros.

What is your current engine and axle mounted on? I'm just finishing a project, pics in a few days I hope, like this. I took the rigid frame - then just cut it and added a pivot on each of the 2 frame rails. Then, on the front section, mounted a rigid reinforced pipe up and down to mount the shock absorber on. The other end of the shock absorber then mounts to the frame on the new "swingarm" you created by cutting the frame. Again, this depends on how good your original frame was. But it was easy. Test drove over the weekend and it worked great. I had another 2 seater buggy that I copied the rear suspension set-up from.... Not complicated at all.

I just finished welding the swing arm. Im pretty happy with it. Im planning on welding the engine mouting plate onto the angle iron, after i make some reinforcements. The engine used to be next to the seat. At the time it made some sense and that was about the only place i could put it. Its really just a ghetto kart:biggrin5:
