Rear axle help

Could this be used as an axle. If so ill have a keyway cut. Its 1" in diameter and just happens to be the exact length i need already. My guess is steel maybe. Its extremely sturdy and heavy. Thanks for any advice guys.

I'd say, NO.....
Once cleaned up, it won't measure 1"..... It needs to be 1.000"..... Not .990"...... Buy a cheap axle, I've seen them posted on here for about $25-30......
It's will be cheaper than having a keyway cut.....

I agree, if you have a tractor sales ,lowes or Home Depot close buy a new piece,because you probably can't get a good thread on the ends.

I would agree also. Buy new; no headache, no labor, accurate axle, and you can get exactly what you need.

I agree.....(well....not with buying stock steel....) but with buying an axle online......

Which is cheaper and easier: buying a screwdriver....or having one made?
