Rear Axle help

Hi guys, I'm currently building my first cart and have set it up for a live rear axle (I just started a project log http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showthread.php?t=23160 there's a picture of the rear swing arm there).

I'm building the cart on a budget, and living on a farm I was lucky enough to find a drive sprocket that will work for me perfectly. However, the sprocket fits an inch shaft (it has come off an American made combine harvester), and currently being in Sydney for uni I cannot find anywhere that sells 1" bar. I have found 24mm and 27mm, but no one seems to stock 25.4mm, or even 25mm for that matter.

So I guess my question applies directly to the Sydney members, does anyone know where I can buy 1" round bar in Sydney?? I can cut the key-ways myself, I just need the bar.

I am assuming that you have tried all the engineering shops that do machining work? They normally have round bar of all sizes. Don't just look at retail stores

You're not looking properly; Edcon Steel have both 25mm & 1" (25.4mm)

You need supplies in Sydney, I'm the man to ask

Edit: You know, I'm surprised you didn't already know that since they now have a store in Orange...

@landuse, yep had checked all engineering firms close to where I'm living in sydney, but unfortunately nothing.

@Fabroman, thanks! I'll get onto them next week. I'm pretty sure the local engineering firm at home would have stocked it or at least got it in for me, but while I'm in sydney studying I just wasn't sure, and Edcon in Orange isn't exactly close its like 5 hrs from home.
