I see a lot of karters looking for input, and a lot of varied answers. Seems most of the questions are from novice karters; either young or old. Why does it seem there are a few stanch defenders of the site with all the definative answers? If I could build a kart on my daddy's money that would be great... I might have a jr. dragster or something. Most of us are folks just trying to have some fun and build a kart... young or old or whatever. I guess i'm saying that in some of these posts that are supposed to help people I see a lot of underlying arrogance .
If you are smarter, richer, wiser, that's great. But It seems there are a lot of old hens (and some that aren't that old) with all the answers on this site. If you had all the answers....you wouldn't be here. Fire away....Steveknight@mail.com

I don't think I would say we have a lot of hens here, maybe Roosters. LOL (I know, I know what you're trying to say)

I do agree with you about the issue though. Just cause somebody knows something doesn't mean they have to make someone else feel dumb that they don't know it. We're all here to help and be helped; like you said: If we had all the answers, we wouldn't be here.

yeah. i know what u mean.
a lot of people say buy cheap if u have a cheap life. that is partly true. a better phrase would be buy cheap if you are on a low budget. buy extra cheap if you have a cheap life

Please, correct me if I'm wrong stevek, but I think (for others having trouble understanding) stevek means that some of us just want to have some cheap fun, with a cheap but good engine, a cheap go kart, with the bare minimum of expenditure. Obviously driving a kart is a risk, and there are further risks associated, like forgetting to brake, stuck throttle, e.t.c. People who have decided to build and ride a kart have generally thought about these things, and just want help staying in their budget, and getting what they want. So perhaps, when someone comes along and says "You have to get X" when X costs more then $40, we have trouble staying within our budget, and complicating the whole process. Perhaps it is easier for some to suggest to others they need to spend more money. That is what I interpreted of the discussion, though I could well be off the mark.
