Thanks for the tip, perhaps I will. Anybody here read "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency", or the follow-up, "The Long, Dark Tea-Time Of The Soul"? Great stuff! I was very disappointed when Adams passed away.

Dang it, I probably should have not said anything; with all the posts y'all have made I'm gona' have to dig out my copies of both series, as well. Do you know how long it's going to take to sort thru the boxes and crates in the basement?!?!

Ah, well; at least I have the collectors DVD box set of the TV series to tide me over while I look. Hmmmmmmmm......

I can definitely agree there.

Be careful what you wish for; the poor babel fish got blamed for an awful lot along the way.

Bonus points if you can remember which of Oolon Quluffid's books it showed up in.

Double bonus points if you know how many books are in a trilogy as defined by the guide.

Triple bonus points for the exact wording of why the poor babel fish is so maligned.

All that being said, the fish would definitely help with tech questions.

It's been far too many years since I've read the books or seen the series to attempt to answer those.

Yeah- I'm out too. Been years! I saw the movie that came out a few years ago, but I was disappointed. It was to be expected, I do it all the time. When you read a book, there's so much that your mind illustrates for you that Hollywood cannot reproduce. Plus- once you've formed some of these images, the movie just don't work right. I find characters never look or sound like my mind says they are "supposed to".Biggest disappointment of them all:

Hugh Laurie was originally to be cast as Arthur Dent. That would have been brilliant!!!!
