Hey guys i got this kart about a month ago and being as excited as i was, i just slapped the 6.5 clone on it and went riding. well, its not the best idea i have had so some bolts started falling off and the engine was moving around due to the mounting bolts being complete crap. So i have officially decided to completely redo this kart to make it as awesome as it can be = :auto:

I am starting with the paint because thats just how i roll.
Here are some pics of the sanded kart ready to be painted today.

I do love Manco, cool deal. Be weary of trying to turn a fun kart into something that goes over 40 typically. These are stamped parts, not precision milled parts which means it will shake violently when you reach a certain speed. We'll be here if you have any questions or need something.

If you can weld, or know somebody, you might want to do some reinforcing (see Blaz's post). And may I suggest tightening the fasteners? Perhaps some threadlocker? ;)

Thanks for the suggestions. Today was a busy day. Me and my friend Andy primed and painted the whole kart. Black with an electric red going through it. We managed to put on the wheels better than previously and found some interesting ways people put together karts. A friend gave us an old seatbelt to use on it too. Thats a lot of work for one day. Here are the pics of todays work. Tomorrow is back to school so not as much time to finish things. I am hoping this kart will be done by next week because i am ordering the extra parts now. Does anyone know how to install gauges like a tach on the kart? How do they sense the RPM? Any help would be appreciated.

PS the spots on the kart are not paint defects they are just water that spilled before i took the pics. and the camera took all of the shine out of the kart. imagine the grey is black and thats what it really looks like....stupid camera...

The seat belt is more for my parents then for me. I tried explaining that if i were to roll...the seatbelt would screw me more but they couldn't understand that one. as long as its on there it doesn't matter...i will probably never use it anyway

Your tack would be connected to your kill switch wire. Your clone has a low oil sensor that most guys end up disabling cause it'll shut your engine down as the oil sloshes over to the side while making sharp turns. The cut wire that was running to this oil sensor would be a good place to connect up to trigger your tach.

You'll need to find a tach made for a 1 cylinder engine. A tach made for a 2, 4, 6 or 8 cylinder engine would still function but read out too low. (for example: a tach made for a 2 cylinder engine would only read out 1/2 the actual rpm if used on a 1 cylinder engine. A tach made for a 4 cyl. would only read 1/4 and so on)

Just tell them that it actually pins you inside the kart, not just when it rolls but in any accident. This is highly dangerous and as you'll find out nobody suggests it. Imagine going under a pick-up truck or hitting a fence and not being able to get out. I'm not sure if this is worth pointing out to them if they would consider the kart too dangerous overall after hearing that.

At the least you can counter any arguments about safety telling them that the kart is so low to the ground and has such a wide wheel base you are very safe. You can also offer up placing a flag on the kart for enhanced visibility.

Alright i did some work on it today and yesterday and it is starting to come together. I am ordering my tach and electronics today so they should be here soon. I added a second air intake to cool down the exhaust. I will get pics as soon as i can. Does anyone know if a wing/spoiler would do anything? Probably not. Thanks for the comments guys it has really helped me out.:cheers2:

Its mostly finished now...sorry about the pictures my camera isn't working right. . I will try to get it fixed. Probably some setting i don't know about lol...the only thing left to adjust is the clutch. Talked myself out of the seatbelt thing (thank god). I painted most of the accessories the same gloss red so it all looks good. Can't wait to ride it once i fix the clutch.
