Hi guys, i was thinking about getting a few razor scooters, (people sell them for so cheap online) taking out the motors and battery. I think this would be good because i can get the batteries, the motor, chain and controller for less than a hundred bucks. the motors are only like 3-500 watts however, will this give me enough power, I'm thinking total weight of the cart will be like 200lbs 140 rider, 60 the kart the scooters spec thing says it can take a 220lb rider to about 15mph, if i tweak the gear ratio add 2 motors and up size the wheels, could i get at least 30mph? run time doesn't matter as i can easily get my hands on some high quality batteries later on dan the road

Wow, if you can make a 60lb kart, that would be pretty impressive to me :). With tires, batteries and my motor, mines gotta be 150lbs easy... without the batteries and motor, I can barely lift it off the ground by myself...
Somehow I dont see two little scooter motors getting you to 30 mph... unless you geared it so high that you almost had to push start it...

but thats just my thought

2x 300W of mechanical power

a 150lbs kart plus about the same for the driver..
let's just say 150kg (330 lbs total because I'd bet you forgot one or two batteries ;))

for 20 mph you already need twice as much (1150W)
for 30 mph you'd need 1750W or more...
again: read this thread!
