OK so I got the motor/controller and I'm doing some test fitting.. The motor came with a T8F-9T sprocket while my old motor / chain is a 11 tooth so I'm guessing I need to get a new sprocket..

Test fitting, does it look like I need to get a new chain as well?

The chain doesn't seem to be seating correctly on the motor sprocket.

Maybe switch the sprocket, with the one off of your old motor

Here's how ;)

Also, I'd add a plate under the motor to support it better :thumbsup:

Yea I was going to do that but the sprockets are different. My small motor just has one flat spot while the new sprocket has two flat spots. :(

I can't tell 100% from the pics
...but, that chain looks bigger than #25 (which would only be ~1/4" from pin to pin)
...8mm is ~5/16" from pin to pin
...#35 is ~3/8" from pin to pin

Could you measure yours, so we know "for sure" what you're working with? ;)

It is hard to see with the camera swinging wildly, but it looks like your jackshaft to sprocket chain is binding up. Do the links move freely (e.g., not rusted/damaged) and are those two sprockets lined up straight? I had to replace that particular chain due to the plates migrating and causing the tensioner to "skip" like that. It ran perfectly with the new chain.

LOL ~ I'll tell my 10 year old son.. He was recording.. We thought he did solid lmao..

Do you have the same buggy? Can you link the chain you got? Thanks

If the sprockets are straight and aligned and you see the chain intermittently riding up the teeth instead of staying seated as it turns, the chain is bad. Look at the outer jackshaft sprocket from the side and turn it through a full cycle off the chain. It looked like it was riding up in the first video. The second video is still 240p right now.

Your first video finally got to 1080p60... You can see the binding and then the snapping back as the chain engages properly again.

Appreciate the help! Sorry if my questions are stupid...

So are you saying the chain needs replaced? Just get the one that was linked? If I get that, I'll need to buy the tool to take off / put on the chain as well?

It probably needs replacement. I'd turn the sprocket until it binds to try to see what is causing it. Like I said; mine had plates migrating and they ended up riding up the teeth like yours does in the video. Or, if the pins and bushings don't move freely, the chain may be stiff and could pretty much act the same. Other possibilities are bad bearings in the jackshaft allowing it to walk around (I had to replace mine) or other misalignment. The chain is the most likely, but you might as well inspect it to be sure.

If you replace the chain, you'll want a chain breaker though it is possible to get by with a vice, hammer, and small punch. This is just to get the new chain to length. The chain will come off easy enough; there should be enough slack that you can even misalign it on the sprocket and turn it to pop it off.

Yes but it does the same thing when I hold it back. Doesn’t spin freely. Just not sure if that’s normal.

Is it possible that the axle is bent?

Look at it from the rear (horizontally) & spin the axle
...does the axle, sprocket or brake rotor "wobble"?

Could it be the rotor, "binding" in the caliper, when you turn the axle?
