Razor dune buggy upgrade

I’m new here but have been reading the forums for a while. I want to upgrade my sons razor dune buggy and before I pulled the trigger, wanted to know what others thought of the setup/what else you might get.
I was thinking about this lithium battery because I read someone else used Brett but after reading the sticky at the top on electric motors am open to anything

Wow that is clean, an definitely way faster than the stock set up. What battery did you use and what do you use for a throttle control, didn’t see a pedal on there

Also, do you know if I need a BMS, some posts say they are built into the lithium batteries but some people show Amazon links that they are buying them separately

Damien is powered by (4) 12V 12AH SLA (sealed lead acid) batteries (SLA's don't need a BMS)
...& has hand controls (thumb throttle & brake lever)

She also, has "incognito" rear suspension
...a (3) speed feature (low, med & high)
...reverse
...& brake lights too

* Read thru the thread (click on link in my last post) it covers/shows all of these features

Many "factory made" lithium batteries for E-bikes (what many folks use for small go karts) have the BMS built in
...just gotta double check the "specs" to make sure it satisfies the requirements of your specific system/set up

It's usually the DIY'ers that build their own battery packs (not recommended)
...that need to add BMS protection
