Rats are smart

I have two "Mikes". I haven't taken the time to disguing one from the other, because they almost look identical.

Anyway, one of them figured out how to open the cage. I think maybe that's who I had out last night. I had him in my lap for awhile, before he took off. I actually watched him go into my cleverly, strategically placed live trap.

Five minutes later, IT'S EMPTY!!! I still don't know how he figured out how to escape it!

Gotta love 'em....life without pets is.........well, worse than life with a wife.

Years ago the woman wanted a hamster....
At first I was blamed on multiple occasions of not leaving the door properly latched so it escaped.......
Id have to round up the darn rodent roaming the house.......

Eventually I caught Betsy with her fang teeth pulling at the latch to slid open the door, on the top of the cage.....
We ended up wireing the cage shut after that, undoing only it to water and feed her....

Super escape artist... so Im sure the rats are just as smart as their hamster brethren...

So, a little while ago, I was talking to my mom on the phone, look down, and Mike's cage is empty! I find a youngster and one of the Mikes (I have 2, and they almost look identical, sooo...). Anyway, put those 2 back in the cage waiting for George and the other Mike to show up. I see Mike remove the paper clip, lift the bar, and open the door!!!!

I'm telling you, they're smart little boogers!!!

Do you have siblings? When you were young and one of you got in trouble,didn't your mom go through the list of names calling each of you out before figuring out who to yell at?

Just name them all Mike.

Well, I'm just too lazy to really scrutinize them closely enough to tell the difference. Soooo... 2 Mikes.

I have 12 rats....don't ask me why. Snake wasn't eating, Daddy got lazy, and I really don't like killing them.

But...I throw one in the snake cage, and they become buddies. Whata gonna do?

Sooo...these little boogers like crackers. So, in a cage of 4, I give them 2 crackers, and watching them trying to defend the one they have, or take one away is hilarious.

Right now, Gracie is AWOL, I have no idea where she is....she just decided to take off. Which is cool, George has gotten to the point he wants to see the whole house. But he comes back to me in 10mins.
