raptor briggs motor shifter conv?

hey guys i've had my kart for a while, but its been sitting and im just now starting to work on it again, it currently has a raptor briggs and stratton motor on it and i was wondering if there was any way to convert it to a shifter kart? im sorry if this is a dumb question, but any advice will be much appreciated

Yes, you put a motorbike engine on it, anything less than 250cc would be good.

Yep, a Briggs doesn't have a gearbox (and you can't get one for it) but motorbike engines do, motorbike engines are about a million times better in every way too.

2 stroke is good, more powerful and usually easier to fit on a kart.

alright, i bet some 2 strokes wont fit. just by saying its 2 or 4 stroke there is no way you will know if it will fit at all.

and

never say its impossible to use a briggs on a shifter. it is hard but posible to make a gearbox.

well im shure you could convert a trans from a pit bike or sumthing u just need to rip apart an engine with the same rpm rating as ur briggs it would be quite the challange but may work

Any motor bike tranny can take a Briggs rpm output. Even modded and ungov'd, the Briggs won't get much past 5500. The bike will redline between 8-10k.

A motor bike engine of the same displacement will run laps around that Briggs, even with it being a high quality motor. The bike motors are just made for more power, torque, and rpms. Not to mention a gear box for overall better performance.

Yes, a big step up. Although it doesn't appear to have a carb and it's extremely wide. Maybe look into a kt100.

Wow there is so much mixed info in that ad, they say it's 250cc, 163cc 197cc and 200cc. Given it says 163 on the block I'd go with that.

Anyway, on top of the cost of the engine you'd need a carby, radiator, hoses, partial wiring loom, shift and kick levers and an ignition lead. Whilst it's Probably a decent engine you could do a lot better for cheaper.
