Kinda difficult to bend 1/8 steel 90°. That sharp and get both 90s square. while keeping the bottom flat.
It's just My God 15 bucks to ship. 2 tiny little parts.

I know your pain believe me. Maybe get some other stuff you know you'll need in the future. At least then it makes the shipping seem more reasonable. Just imagine if you had to pay an exchange rate on top of that. Maybe try mfg and see if they have it? I think they have flayed rate shipping Or check the hardware store and maybe weld 2 L brackets together?

You could weld the pieces pieces together and then drill the holes. Shipping on that stuff is ridiculous. The main function on the part is that the holes be lines up and parallel with the flat side with no holes. It doesn't need to beexact in every aaspect.

Found the perfect brake rod I need at BMI for $5.95
Guess what shipping was?
Yep, $15.
For a piece of 1/4" rod that doesn't weigh 4 oz.

Yep. Everything is that way.
I try not to bash them, cause usually I can get what I need everywhere else. But this time I need that part.
It does not matter even if you buy alot or a little the shipping is just ridiculous.

My new plan is to NEVER reccomend them and anytime someone posts their item I will Google it elsewhere and help them get it cheaper.
MFG supply like already stated Has flat rate Shipping.
Buy 1 bolt $6.99
Buy Everything needed to build an entire Kart.... Yep $6.99
Forget BMI, I am writing them off Completely.
To me they are now Harbor Freight wheels!

I know when I was looking into buying a part for my engine mount cause I had thought I got the wrong one, just a part for it the shipping cost more than the complete motor mount. I managed to work around needing it but I figured it out that had I actually had to buy it that it would been cheaper for me to buy a complete new motor mount and have it shipped from somewhere else

okay, while bending is a bit of a pain.. what about cutting?

i.e.
get a section of rectangular tube (say 1"x1.5" 1/8 thick at the local hardwarestore )
or here for 5 bucks a foot but then shipping again... $7 in this case

drill, cut, grind done.

'sid

PS
if you order 6" you'll just pay 3.30 for the tube.. leaving you with 10.25 for the tube incl shipping
I assume you have a drillpres, a hacksaw and an angle grinder at your disposal ;)

^ there's a man with a plan. Altho they have a good selecton of products and an easy to navigate site, I have a personal grudge against bmi because of the wrong advise their staff gave me. That and because of my location shipping costs are far worse for me. Also, while it seems like they have decent prices, after all that I still had every intention of ordering my brakes from them but ended up finding the same kit they offered and saved more than $100 US cheaper getting getting them elsewhere. The place I ended up getting them from still managed to save me that much despite them getting their products from the US. I would rather have something that was professionally made but as far as DIY sid came up with a great idea

Thanks Sid,
I have actually done that before. It works, I just saw this and it looked so perfect for what I want. Laser cut pre drilled square and everthing. I remember the last one I made was 1/4"x3" for a spindle bracket. It was just a ton of work.
Then I got so frustrated with the shipping and trying to find the part somewhere else I forgot I could make it.
Well DIY right.
Time to break out the grinder.

Still Word to the Wise; BMI shipping is a ripoff.

So here is what I made out of what I found. These were spindles from my parts haul last week. But they were backwards from the way I like my spindles. So I cut them up and now have spindle brackets for my next projects Front end.
I just need to get some Spindle barrels machined for the 3/8x7/8 Bearings :wai:
