Hey guys, I believe there is a few old threads about this but they don't cover what I would like to work out. I'm currently building a high powered shifter kart. I was looking through some photos of builds and noticed someone had used a rack and pinion setup on there's (pic attached). Due to the higher speeds of these karts I'm interested on doing some sort of setup like this, seen as it should make the steering more controllable. Does anyone know of any small steering setups or racing karts that have been converted to this type of steering? Thanks in advance for any replys.

I know some buggies use this type of steering. Have a look at the edge buggies. THIS link has a rack and pinion half way down the page

We don't know where you are from because your profile is not filled in, so we cannot point you in the right direction

just google it

look for off road products

the cheapest method(what i did)

was to get a car rack and shorten it

quite easy
only used a grinder and a welder
took about 3 hours because to have to be extra careful when welding it

Comet Karts has a racing R&P box, you add the tie rods to your specific length (which they also have).

Thanks for the replies, I just updated where I'm from. Sorry I thought I'd already done that, Now that I know where to purchase such a setup is their any advantage over my current setup? (pics attached, standard kart setup) I was thinking it might be safer due to the amount of turns needed to turn the wheels, less touchy than normal setup. I wouldn't want to be going 100kph and turn the steering wheel a 1/2 way to the right and roll over.
