Hello all, I'm new here and just have a quick question to ask. I am planning to build a kart and think i have found a pottential engine. I was just wondering if anyone could give me a rough idea of the speed I could acheive (or if it will even go =P)? I have never built a kart and thus do not know much about it.

Here are the engine specs:

Engine type
Air –cooled 4-stroke OHV 25o inclined single cylinder

BorexStroke
68 x 45 mm

Displacement
196 cm3

Compression Ratio
8.5:1

Max Power Output
6.5PS (4.1KW) / 3600rpm

Recommended Power Output
5.7PS (3.5KW) / 3600rpm

Maximum Torque
1.35 kg.m (10.8 N.m) / 2500rpm

Ignition System
Transistorized magneto

Starting Syatem
Recoil

Fuel Tank Capacity
3.6 Litres

Airecleaner
Semi-dry; Oil bath; Dual; Silent; Cyclone

Oil Capacity
0.6 Litres

Fuel Consumption
290 g / PS-hr (395 g/KWh)

Dimensions (LxWxH)
400 x 330 x 335mm

Dry Weight
16kg

(It is a Honda clone)

Any estimation would be great.

Many thanks, Jp

*PS* Sorry for posting in 2 threads, it was my original intention to post here which I thought I was doing.

speed/torque? hummmmm

Well, it there are a lotta things that can influence top end speed, but reilistically I bet You could do 35- 40 mpg, YOur gearing or sprocket combo, will be the biggest factor Id say, ask Yourself where you will ride? hills? flats? hard surface? dirt? You may wanna sacrafice some top end ponies, for some torque to clime hills?
