hello,

i've got a road rat with a 6.5 hp lifan engine, centrifugal clutch, 35 chain, 58-60 tooth sprocket.

i want a higher hp engine, planning on getting a 15hp lifan. i was wondering, due to the higher power output, do i need to change anything regarding engine mount, clutch, or chassis layout?
do i need a torque converter in place of cent. clutch?
sprocket changes/tips?

thanks very much

Your still talking industrial (Honda clone) engine, correct? If so, umm, yeah, you need to change pretty much everything. Big block clones have a 1" PTO shaft & a larger footprint, just for starters.

Why not start with the easier alternative, mod the 6.5? There's oodles of cheap or free mods you can do to get more power out of it, all the way up to more expensive hyper mods...

could elaborate on what i can mod?

also if you can, what will have to be changed specifically? (mainly mounting and chain/sprocket differences)

for 15 hp, you would want a 40 series torque converter for 1" pto, at least 41 chain. Probably a 54 tooth sprocket, but a 60 will work. Also, < that last comment really depends on your tire size.

Like icebox says, you will have to get a 40 series TC (expensive!) and a stronger chain. The footprint of the larger engine will also be different, so you will have to drill new mounting holes for your engine into your engine mount. With the large engine you might have to change the alignment of all the sprockets as well.
