How's it looking in way of material removal? It's smoother than the pics look. Doesn't catch on a pick.View attachment 162981View attachment 162982View attachment 162983

It looks like you’re taking pains to remove and smooth that sharp ledge beside the valve guide in each port, on the side that faces the carburetor and the exhaust pipe respectively.

Would love to see a *before* before I see the *in-progress* pics. Or even an factory-fresh engine that hasn’t tasted gasoline yet, but that’s asking a lot. Is a rougher texture on the intake (for enhanced fuel atomisation) still a thing?

Yes, I still have to rough it up I think. There is even a dimple process that you can do but I think that requires too much precision.

Wondering if I need to remove more on the short side...

So after more than 20 years of welding... I finally get the privilege of experiencing flash burn.

-Not recommended. Its not horrible, I think I got off lucky. Its just borderline painful. More annoying than painful.

Thank God its only one eye. Trying a new respirator and didnt realize it was leaking reflected light in.

Been there. Slice a potato in half and put each half over each eye. The starch in the potato help soothe and repolish the lense. Some guys say shred the potatoes like hasbrowns.
There’s 2 kinds of welders in this world. Those that have had flash burns and those that will have flash burns of the eyes.
