I don't remember how old I was, maybe 5. But I was messing around in the garage, on a wooden creeper, using brooms as oars to move around the garage. I was dumb and hit the release rope on the door, and the door started to fall. I tried to run out of the garage, cause I didn't want to get in trouble. Didn't get far and the door on my left leg and left arm.

My older brother (by 16 years) was across the street at friends house and saw it happen. My mom ran downstairs to see what happened and yelled for my dad to come open the door when the opener wasn't working. Brother and friends got the door off me. Parents drove me to the hospital to get x-rays. No broken bones, no damage, nothing.

Same time frame... neighbor across the street had a steep driveway.
Talked my little brother into belly riding his skateboard down.
Hit a rock and he superman'd off the board for a short flight and face planted.
Well, skid more than planted.

Roofs, trampolines and swimming pools were a great combo too.

Same exact thing with me. I finally jammed it up. Lol I would stand on the inside until I was horizontal.

ONE time I pulled off the "cartoonish hiding on the ceiling" thing.

Considering it was a 2 stall door that was for an 8' opening, yeah I am surprised nothing broke.

Got a Kindasuki bayou 300 4x4
Customer states starter spins, engine doesn't.

Ok, maybe bendix not working?
Nope direct drive.



Ok then. Open up the cover. Lets see what broke.

"Wanna see something cool?
This Effin thing"



Took it apart. Nothing to it.



Couple belville washers hold a taper together.





Im gonna take it to the lathe and clean up the tapers and either add a washer, or trim the "cup" so the lid will sit a tad lower and tighten it up.

Why not buy a new one?
Cause that's why.



Wait, there's more.
The carb float stuck or doesn't close. It pees out the overflow tube,
And the pet rooster leaks. Go figure.

I have a kawi starter still attached to an engine. Wonder what the chances are....

Dad had some shims. Added another .012 and it tightened up nicely.
Got a few extras if it needs them.

Alright guys, it’s so cold lately that my Genie screw-drive gayrog door openers are balking, slowing down and giving me a hard time.

I think the main garage door opener, the one that gets used the most, is just dying. Could be jammed or something because the motor sounds like it’s stalling out. I disconnected the trolley/carriage from the door and tried running it by itself along the track; the motor groans and it only moves the trolley an inch or less before quitting in ignoble defeat. The openers were installed 29-30 years ago.

Anyway, just like Ezcome this is were my “cheap bastard” kicks in. I think most people have this side, a Mr. Cheap Bastard to their Dr. Jekyll. The rational person would probably conclude that both units need to be replaced right then and there but I want the cheapest possible remedy.

I could have had a new garage door(17-18') and opener installed in 2019 for $1800. I decided to wait and now I just open by hand. Got used to it and my inner cheap @ss keeps me waiting.
