Hello, everyone.

I recently bought a bicycle computer that displays RPM, speed, etc. It's this one.

My question is, is it possible to use something like this on a go kart? I have an Azusa fun kart if it matters at all. In the description of the bike computer, it shows it supports having the sensor attached to wheels with a circumference of 100cm to 239cm, but obviously that would be on the spokes of a bicycle wheel and I doubt it would work on a traditional tire.

Yes, it will work as long as your tyres are within the given dimensions.

Where you mount the little magnet doesn't matter, the computer simply counts the amount of time it takes for the magnet to go past and calculates the speed from that.

You have to tell the computer what the circumference of your tyres are so it can calculate the speed.

Thanks

Thanks for the help!

I wasn't sure if it'd be possible to mount this on my kart, but thinking about it more, I'm sure it can be done without too much trouble.

Sadly, I don't think this will end up working with the wheels that I have, though. The minimum diameter that this computer supports is ~12.5" while the wheels I have are 12" wheels, but you have to mount the magnet closer to the inside of the wheel anyways.

Aha, fortunately, that thread popped up as I searched this site for more info on it. Looks jam-packed with good info.

Thanks for the help!

you can attach it to your kart no problem, but what I was getting at was that to actually make it work is really complicated. the page I posted explained how it works in a car, if you can modify that technique to work in small engines, more power to ya
