I'm thinking about picking one up considering I can't keep my b&s running but it looks like the pull start will be facing the seat if I pick up this one.

http://www.harborfreight.com/65-hp-horizontal-shaft-overhead-valve-gas-engine-66014.html

Is it possible to rotate the pull start? Also the gas tank is going to be right behind the seat (my drive wheel is on the driver side). It would be a real pain in the butt to switch everything over to the passenger side tire because of the band brake.

Just don't like it that close to my daughter but it'll be ok.

I've also been reading about the throttle, looks like it's nit just a easy hook up I guess?

there are different mounting plates you can get for the throttle, some take up the space where the gas tank is, and some dont. lots of kits are available, but there are plenty of DIY solutions on this site.

you can mess with the fuel tank and put it differnt places, but remember its gravity feed so if you put it lower than the carb inlet then youll have to get a fuel pump, battery, wiring, and could be a nightmare.

Did a little searching and the site has some great examples on how to hook up the throttle so it shouldn't be that bad... I HOPE

Thanks for the help.

Thinks again guys. I'm quickly running out of time to have the kart ready in time for my daughters birthday. Can't seem to keep the b&s engine running. It's the carb on tank style and it's not picking up gas on a regular bases and keeps stalling out. Only thing I haven't replaced is the diaphragm. If that doesn't fix it then I'll buy the clone. Her birthday is next weekend so time is not on my side.

Sounds like you got it figured out. Let us know how it goes.

Did you try the Carb cleaner around the gaskets while running. Anderkart gave me that tip, if it has a leak it'll suck up the cleaner and bog down a bit.

Yea...tried it, I'm really hope it's the diaphragm but I'm really starting to have my doubts.

Let's keep our fingers crossed that it is. If not, I'm afraid it's going to end up as a home for fish at the bottom of some lake.

Picked up the diaphragm at lunch and ran out to my brothers shop to install it. Seems to be running better. No drive time, just had the back jacked up and was using the brake to put a load on the wheel. Guess this weekend will be the true test...gosh I hope this works.

Thanks to everyone for all the help. I know an 8 year old little girl that will be very happy and a father that will always be greatful.

I'll try not to be such a pain during the build process on the 2nd kart.
