Hello! I am new here and I don't really know how it works. I just have a little problem with a mini bike project I am working on. I'm making an homemade mini bike with a 2 stroke lawn mower engine! The engine I got didn't have a carb so I put a mopped carb on it. I started the engine and the problem I have is that the iddle is to high. I tried unscrewing the idle screw ,but it still was to high. I searched on internet and tried to understand a littlebit more about the neddles and the jet but I still don't know what to do. Can someone please help me !! If you have any questions about my problem that could help you and me find the solution just ask !! Thanks !

Welcome.
There's a few thing to check. First would be if the throttle cable is holding the carb open slightly.
Depends on the type of carb, but there could be a manual stop screw to set the idle. It could also be an air mixture screw adjustment.

I see issues as well.. one doesn't even need another side to be verified.
Say... that orange thingamabob cord on the underside.. that's not by any chance rotating with the crank, is it?
is that a sprocket above that btw?
ever wondered in which plane the wheel rotates?
Now, tell me, would it make sense that in order to take the engines crankshaft rotation to move said wheel.. that those rotate in the same plane??
speaking of which, take notes in which direction the engine turns when running as well (CCW or CW)
it wouldn't make much sense to have a mini bike going 25mph++ but only backwards, does it?

Hello sid! My engine is running the right way it's because it is a lawn mower engine. I needed to weld the sprocket the other side of the well and turn my engine upside down so the wheel rotates the right way , but I still need to buy a centrifugal clutch to put on the engine shaft which we don't see on the picture, because it is on the other side of the bike!
Since you haven't posted a pic of the other side yet............
If that's a old lawn boy engine it won't run that way ever. Those engines are temperamental to begin with and now it's sideways. I worked on those all last summer at a lawn mower shop.
The PVC intake is probably your issue as well along with the PVC filter adapter but more the intake tho.
And it's a 2-stroke wheres the special pipe that came with that specific engine at ?
