Quad as a donor

Hi all,

There is a possibility that I can get a broken down 50cc quad for about $60. I've seen the photos and it looks in good shape but am still waiting on details re model + manufacturer so that I can research it properly + beat the price down somewhat. Am sure however that it's a chinese import.

In your opinion, will this be a suitable donor for a kart for my 5 year old boy using a 3.5HP Honda motor? Maybe this'll kickstart the project a bit sooner.

why not, possibly use engine in quad, whats borken, possibly easier to fix quad if its not blown up or the compression is gone.

A 50cc isnt gonna push hard enough for fun on a cart, a 3.5 horse would be better.
