Q. on framing material

I have some left over 1 1/2" x 2" thick wall material left over from a boat rack, for a truck. I would like to use it for a small OFF ROAD quad ( sm child ) 3-5 hp. Is there a weight-frame guideline? Since you are here, has anyone built a grasshopper? (mini bike frame set on a kart frame) thanks, Phil from AZ

The actual dimensions of the tubing will make for a pretty stout frame, but how thick is "thick"? If it's too thick for the job, it will make for a heavy frame. Now, if the vehicle is geared quite low for a young child, this may not be much of a problem. If this is your first build, you might be better of with thicker tubing from a welding/structural perspective.

Thanks Doc, That is what I was thinking. It will be solid! lol but I will use round tubing for the mini bike portion. This is my 1st kit, but not my 1st RODEO
