alot of people think that chainsaw engines make alot of power, but not realy. in the old days some were pretty big and had alot of torque, but most now dont. i have a briggs two cycle snowblower engine we ran for years on a mini and it did well even though it wasnt supposed to be run in warm weather, we did anyway. it had a 5\8 shaft and i made a bushing to 3\4 and put a noram clutch on it cause you can get parts easy for changing the ingagement speed. you could use a jackshaft, and put the clutch there like i did on my bicycle mini. most two cycle engines dont care what way they are mounted, but sometimes the carburetor does!-phil
