Putting a 40 Series TC Backward?

Does the orientation matter on the driven and the driver as long as they are in the right direction relative to one another?
The driven unit is bulkier than I first though and gets in the way of the jackshaft sprocket, so I'm looking for an easy way around it.

nevermind guys I called a go kart shop near my house and they said the driven clutch can only go one way unless you rebuild it with the spring going in the opposite direction

They wouldn't be turning the same direction if I flip them they would be turning counterclockwise relative to their original orientation. Of course they would be turning clockwise relative to you because the cart is moving forward, but there's a difference.

I think the driver is simply centrifugal so it wouldn't matter, but the tension in the spring for the driven only works if the torque is applied in one direction, it kinda makes sense if you look at it closely.

I may be wrong that's why I'm asking the pros on here if they've done or seen it before =)

do you think you could change the driven around? i don't think it would be that bad, maybe blaz could give you some more info.

So put the small sprocket on the other side and turn the driven shaft around, It looks like you have plenty of shaft.

i know it looks like that but the motor would hit the axle sprocket. So I stacked a couple quarter inch plates under the engine mounting plate to raise it up so I could do exactly what you said. Just a bigger pain in the ***

Could you move a bearing a bit? That would be a simple, cut, grind, and reweld.
