My boys kart. 5 hp briggs flathead with the tank mounted pulsacrap carb.

I purchased the rebuild kit. I soaked the bare carb overnight. I cleared all accessible passages with a strand of wire.

When put back together, it ran great. About 1/2 an hour of running and it was back to dieing with any throttle. It'll idle, but just dies when you give it gas.

I've taken the carb apart and used spray carb cleaner and wire strands about half a dozen times. Each time the same result. Runs great for a short time and then back to starving for fuel.

***I've never found any foreign material***

I'm absolutely fed up with this carb. I don't know if pulling that round plug on the side to access more area to clean would help or not, but I'd need to buy a new plug.

1.) What size is that small side plug and where can I order one?

2.) Would I be better off buying a slide carb or some other type of carb?

3.) With a different style of carb would I need to put a gas tank above the carb for gravity feed or ?????

The Kart is run in a bumpy grassy field. Poor kid loves the kart, but hates that he can only drive for 30 minutes and then has to take the carb apart.

I'd like to spend as little as possible, of course. Is there an affordable fix or is a harbor freight motor just a much better way to go?

You might find that your tank is full of rubbish, and your carb is just sucking it up again when you run the engine. I would maybe give the tank a bit of a clean as well before trying another carb.

I also saw a thread on the forum where somene had cut the long pickup tube slightly smaller and installed a small inline filter. I will try find the thread for you

Edit: Found it!!!!
