But there is no way sorry can happen.

That is unless there is a hole or something in the tank...but you are correct.
If you have ever gotten into the spudgun hobby, you would know that the explosion from a perfect mix of propane and unpressurized air is less than that of a propane tank on a hot day. Im an insanly cautious guy but your worrying far to much.

the amount of propane with nitrogen+oxygen is between 3-8% in order to cause an explosion. any more and the propane will become 'diluted'. any less and it will be too rich to ignite.

My bad, I wasn't thinking about the "perfect ratio". However I still wouldn't want to be around a full tank with a hole in it!

If you have a section of the tube with holes in it, like on a blowtorch, it should mix gas and air, so no need for a carb, and then if it ever backs up, it will blow out through those holes, like on a blowtorch.

To run on propane you need to buy/build a "propane demand valve". When the engine would normally suck fuel, this suction opens the propane valve. As the engine speeds up it takes in more gas. I THING (not sure) that this demand valve, and changing the needle/seat in the carburator for a larger one is all that is required. Along with new fuel pipes.
