Hey everyone! I figured I would make a thread to show our progress on our GSX-R 600cc Kart build. We picked up a 2001 GSX-R 600 motor from a friend of ours for free. One of the pistons had a hole in it and the whole cylider head needs to be replaced, but parts have been ordered from Ebay for cheap! We picked up a kart last week which we got for only $150. The motor had not been ran in a year and the kart had been left to sit in her backyard but its a amazing kart. We have pulled basically everything we are not going to be using which includes but not limited to:
- Honda 450cc Engine (Sold for $100)
- Seats and Seat Belts (Sold for $25)
- Rear Suspension
- Axel Sprocket (Changing for GSX-R 600 Sprocket)
- Steering Wheel
As it sits now it is a rolling chassis. Our plans for it now are to run brake lines to the front disc brakes which will be run off a pedal and run a cable to our rear disc brake which will be run off a hand brake. We also hope to pick up some rear oil filled shocks for the kart. We are hoping to weld another bracket for the shocks so we can adjust the kart for street and offroad use. Once the parts for the motor come in we will build the motor and begin fab work for some motor mounts. Sheet metal will hopefully cover the roof, sides, and undercarage of the kart. We purchased some 3A Racing seats off our local craigslist for $75 and the fit in the kart perfectely! We have lots of plans for the kart and can't wait to show everyone!
Here are a few pictures we have taken in the past few days of our progress. Enjoy!
