Starting the teardown and game planning for the this Spiderbox kart but I could use all the help possible. The "goal" is to have a pavement cruiser with plenty of power for the family to enjoy. That said the swing arm and engine have been removed for fab work and eventual 420/40 series install. Currently the plan is to do this in phases and I figured to start with the live axle and engine plate from GPS. I have the plate, Carter Brother's 49 3/4" axle, hubs, and bearing kit added but NO IDEA what sprocket or chain to use. Any suggestions?

On the heavier buggys offroad we prefer #50 chain and shoot for around 8-1 ratio, which requires a jackshaft. Also id suggest 780 series converter over the 40 series.

Luckily both options are still on the table as far as the converter kit. Same with the chain, I'll be ordering chain once I get the engine. So there's time fortunately. Since this is getting built in phases, I elected to start with the "rearend". Currently I'm still trying to button up the new axle assembly from end to end. At this moment my shopping cart has a 1" axle, hubs, bearing kit, 60t sprocket and the hub for it. If I'm missing anything LMK. As for the #50 chain, would I need a different sprocket to make that work? I have not done enough research yet to get ratios for this build. In my head I'm tackling this from rear to front: Axle, Swingarm, Engine/Alignment, Suspension, Brakes, Paint, Wheel setup, re-wire, and Burn Rubber.

A # 50 chain would require a different sprocket. Pitch is different. The 50 is stronger than the #40, but there a LOT of extremely high powered karts and buggies ( what you have ) running the 40 series chain without a problem.
FWIW, I have even run 20" tall paddle tires in the sand. No problem with the chain. Also the 40 series stuff is more plentiful. The parts you list in post # 5, are right on.

Awesome, I'll keep all of this in mind as the build progresses. Thank you for the help. Sounds like an order getting pushed through.
