Where is Pats located? I'm in Spring Branch on the west side of Houston. I just tried doing a Google search, but apparently my computer now has a virus since it re-directs me to other sites when I click on any of the results of a Google search. Man, I hate the fools that create viruses!

I've already got Micro soft security essentials installed, & running, and I still just got this virus TODAY. I even tried running the TDSS killer, and that did not work either. Running Spybot now.. Then Malware Bytes. Then rkill. Then Hi-jack this. Then.... It never ends. This will be the 3rd virus I've had in the last month. No, I don't surf PORN, or any other sites that people normally associate with viruses.

The last virus I had made my taskbar disappear. So, I don't have a taskbar anymore. I did the "cntrl-alt-delet" but I don't see anything there out of the normal. I bought this computer used from a small shop up the street from me. The 3rd day I had it the task bar disappeared. I took it back, and they charged me $160 to fix it. They said it had a "virus". After bringing it home, I lost the taskbar again in about 3 days. They of course said to bring it back and they would fix it again for a fee... I believe they probably program every computer they sell to have issues so that they can get them back repeatedly. Anyway, I have not had a taskbar on it since I've owned it (3 months) and it continuously gets viruses.

Okay. I ordered the carb repair/over-haul kit over the web. I put lemon juice on my wifes grocery list, & I fixed the Google redirect virus that my computer had with a program called Combofix. If any of you experience the google redirect virus, that program flat out fixes it!

Will update again once my parts get here. Almost forgot-I ordered a new head gasket as well.

Okay, on second thought, I'm thinking about just buying a new carburetor to have on hand in case my rebuild still does not work. I pulled the old carb off today just so I could have it ready for reassembly when the kit gets here. I see there is a white powdery/chalky substance all over the inside of the carb. It was there the first time I tried to clean it, and it is still there. It appears to be oxidation, or corrosion.

I was looking on-line at Amazon and see multiple carbs listed for the Tecumseh engines. Can you guys take a look here at this link and tell me which one my 6.0 OHV engine needs?
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_n...ps&field-keywords=tecumseh+carburetor&x=0&y=0

I already ordered the repair kit so I will try and rebuild the old carb but if it does not work out, I want the new carb here waiting to take it's place!

Thanks!

your rebuild should work fine, i wouldnt worry about a second carb, and boiling in lemon juice helps remove that, and if it dosent get it all the way off, truy to scrub/scratch it off, it will come off alot easier, built the right way with everything ready, and youll be ready to go

A 50-646 should work for you. It replaces Tecumseh model #632230 which is good for 5 and 6 hp engines.
It is not a genuine Tecumseh carb, but is fully adjustable (desirable) and utilizes a manual choke.
Be aware that this will not match up to your current linkage. Governor will not function with this carb. Also, you may or may not have clearance for choke lever. Should be test fit before filling with gas.
If you do purchase this, make sure it is returnable.

Okay, got the repair kit in the mail today. It only includes the bowl gasket, needle, seat, and gasket that goes between the main jet and float bowl. No welch plug... Hmm.. Thought I needed to remove that plug and clean behind there. Guess I won't be doing that. I also got an in-line filter. Filter says Briggs & Stratton on it. Hope my Te-CHUMP-sey carb can get along with a B&S part. Ha ha ha.:wai:

Looks like I have some fun ahead of me. Will post back with an update. Maybe tomorrow she will idle.. :D

On a side note, can anyone tell me what size bolt goes into the threaded end of the crank to hold the clutch on? I noticed today that the bolt on this kart is gone. Only thing stopping the clutch from coming off is the chain..:roflol:

Thanks for that! I'll pick up a bolt for it today. Hope to have time today after work to work on the carb. Will let you guys know how it goes.

Well, I'm back. I knew I should have just ordered a new carb. I PISSED my time away cleaning this old POS, and replaced the needle, seat, main jet to bowl gasket, and bowl to carb gasket.... and...... can you guess? It's still a piece of Te-CHUMP-sey Sucky Hellish Idiotic Time-waster...

Still won't idle. As soon as you let off the gas, the motor dies. I tried holding the throttle in different positions just to see if it would idle at any point, and NO.. Once the engine starts to stall, you have to floor it, and hold it there, and it runs just fine.. Let off the gas-instant death! Thank you Te-CHUMP-sey!!! Really, for the MILLIONS of us having this problem-THANK YOU!

So, I'm back to the drawing board. Can anyone link me to a replacement carb for this 6.0HP horizontal shaft engine? I don't care what it costs-I just need it to RUN so my kids can enjoy it.

Also, I found what I think may be wrong with this carb.. Where the shaft for the butterfly penetrates the casting of the carb, on top-there is some type of seal there that is no longer sealing. As I was trying to clean all the lemon juice out of the carb I was using compressed air and I could clearly see TONS of bubbles coming out from between the shaft and the carb casting. My guess is that the engine is sucking air around that shaft, going lean, and then dying. I closed the butterfly (relaxed position) and lightly greased where the butterfly meets the carb casting all the way around, then filled that area with water while holding the carb upright such that it was pointing up so as to hold the water, a stream of water started coming out from around the shaft.. Obviously this is a vacuum leak, and the engine is probably pulling air around that shaft instead of through the idle circuit. Once I got it on the engine and running, I was spraying carb cleaner right into that shaft area and the engine would actually idle!!!!! I am DONE with this JUNKER.

Somebody, please link me to one that will work with this engine. I'd sincerely appreciate it. If anyone wants the old one to blow up with C4, or shoot with a high powered rifle, let me know. Otherwise, I'll find something creative to do with it such as melt it down with my torch into a little aluminum globule.. Maybe I should melt it down, and then ship it back to Te-CHUMP-seh to show them my appreciate. Anybody have a mailing address?

...But you're not bitter.

Okay, the shaft bore is worn out. That's Tecumsehs fault? I understand you're frustrated, been there. But credit where credit is due, and crap where crap is due.

If you want the governor to work, you're pretty much stuck with an OEM replacement carb. If you have some skills, you can adapt nearly anything.
