problem attaching clutch

so my clutch came today and when i was trying to put it on my crankshaft there are these to bolts under it and this thing is sticking out of them and gets in the way of the clutch so wut is this thing can i just take it out or move it so its not in the way

Crankshaft appears to be stubby and is stepped.
What did engine come off of?

i took it off of a edger that had a belt on it if this was just to guide the belt then i can just go ahead and take it off?

Check attached.
Shaft should be straight through. Common diameter would be 5/8 or 3/4 inch for entire usable length.

so what can i do? could i make a 5/8 diameter peice on a lathe and then weld it on to the shaft do u have any other options?

If it were my engine I would change crankshaft completely.
Not sure about welding it. Might change temper of steel and ruin shaft.
Possibly a machine shop could help you out in fabricating an adapter. Would not hurt to ask questions of them.
Engine appears to be Tecumseh from what I can see. What is model number?
I can try to get you a ballpark price on new crankshaft if still available.
I don't see any cheap or easy way out of this.

ugh that sounds like a lot of trouble. i put it on today and ran the engine worked good and clutch didnt fall off. so half of the clutch is on and half isnt couldnt i just get a really long screw to fit in side the crankshaft to hold the clutch in place?

Worth a try I suppose, but remember that this end of shaft is subject to extremely high stresses. This is probably the weakest point (especially because it's on end of shaft) in drive train. Use a chain/clutch guard of some kind just in case of failure.
If it works...good.
Worst case would mean shaft or engine has to be replaced.

i thought about his for a while before i finally realized wut i was going to do im going to make a screw to fit in the crankshaft where the other one broke (after i take out the borken one) and on the end of that screw instead of having like a hexagonal head its going to be a peice of steel 5/8 thick (same size as shaft) to extend the crankshaft and in that peice i will drill a hole and tap it so i can put a new screw with washer to hold clutch=] ganna take some work but will work

kind of hard to explain ill post some pics of it as soon as i manufactor the peice in school

i think the best way would be to maby cut it off with a pair of bolt cutter's or a simple hack saw
