Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, I'm a newbie to your forum and I'd like some advice on a Track Rabbit kart that I've owned since the early 70's. My grandfather found it and restored it for me around 1972 and I've held onto it for all these years. I've posted a few pictures to this post so hopefully you can take a look. How rare are these carts? Are they worth restoring? The cart has strong sentimental value and I don't think I could ever get rid of it but I'm not sure if it's worth a total restoration or maybe just add some air to the tires.

Thanks for your feedback

Rob

:welcome2:

It is a beautiful kart, and you could either conserve it the best you can (no repainting, just cleaning everything, new bolts & bearings etc.)
or you can do essentially the same, but with fresh paint.

The question is:
What do you want.

the sentimental value alone would justify every restoration process possible inkl goldplating the frame;)

So yes, it's worth it!

Being one who regrets modifying an old cart from the 70s for my brother in law, I say restore it to as close to original as possible.

Thanks for the input on the classic

Does anyone have any idea on how old this cart is? I've searched all over and cannot find another one with a steering wheel like this one

if you look at the ads I posted, it has the steering wheel pictured there, those are (as you can see) from 1960.

So anything close to that year I assume.

The reason for not seeing it, will be most likely:
they broke! this kart is 60years old and used by more than one kid in that time I assume, so somewhere on the road it was changed.

Track Rabbit

I have a Track Rabbit that I picked up at an auction last year. It is in need of a restoration also. The Karts were made in 1959/60. When new, the Kart came with a fiberglass body that made it look like a miniature sprint car (mine has the body). The Karts came with a Lauson engine (similar to Clinton) that had 2.5 hp. Mine is in storage now; I intend to begin the restoration in the summer. I just picked up an NOS engine for it today. Good luck with yours. Clean it up. Don't sell it.

I know you probably don't mind having your home adress on a public forum, but just for your safety I have removed the street name. If someone want to get hold of you they can shoot you a PM.
