Predator Performance question

Dunno, read it somewhere



As previously mentioned, the governor is safe to ~4500rpm so, running at ~4000rpm should be safe; my engine was running well beyond that when it disintegrated...

I also said modding any engine involves a risk, not necessarily that it will break...

Many years ago, I worked with a guy who built his everyday driver into a show car; at one point, he was changing blocks more often than engine oil until he backed off the mods; likewise, I've seen engines modded & run faultlessly for years...

We run these setups from 4800 to 4900 rpm continuously on the track not 4k rpm.

I still don't know what valve float sounds like. I was under the impression that you could hear it. I couldn't hear anything, or maybe I don't know what to listen for.

You dont hear anyrhing. It just stops turning more rpm.

Guess we'll wait for the torture test and see the results ourselves and make our own decisions. If it fails and others want to go fast, they'll either have to get an engine built for speed or build a shifter kart, or just live with the fact the engine may end up not lasting very long.

I'll bet it works too. For one OCD seems to be a stand up guy. He already said it works. He's given an example of a legitimate organization that does it. How can a few hypotheses (untested) stand in the way of factual evidence?

I think it will last 25 hrs at 4800 RPM, but my fingers are crossed for catastrophic failure.
Don't' know why. Movies are better when things blow up.

I'll take that $20 bet, just to keep things interesting.

You guys crack me up.
I've been running this setup for some time now and never had an issue so obviously I'm fairly positive it's not going to let go.
Of course for 100 bucks its hard to not test the ever living crap out of it haha.

The torture test is still very much on guys.
Just need this snow to ease up and clear the roads and I will be on the way to harbor freight.
My biggest hurdle right now is getting a camera setup that will be able to film continuously.

If non continuous filming isn't a huge deal I can keep filming it with the current setup. We will have the hour meter that's going to track hours of runtime for us so not sure it needs to be double tapped by a continuous filming (which obviously will be edited anyways).

Can't wait to put a hemi predator where my mouth is???!!!!!!!! Hmmm that doesn't sound right lol.

Its like you hear the engine revving as you accelerate From 2000 to 5000ish.
And it stops revving any higher and the acceleration stops.
It is kinda like a feel and not a different sound just no longer revving.
You are correct though it is barely noticable. A child on a Kart would just keep their foot in it and never know.

My neighbor cut the front open on the airbox lid on the predator non hemi on his go kart. Think scoop. When you float the valve on it you can hear it through the airbox. Kind if a fluttering sound.

I blow stuff up. Well known fact that I have no mercy on them. If that was a shot at me I took no offense. The only real way to find the edge is to go over it.
