so ive got a pedator 212 ghost with a upgraded flywheel and stock coil and mikuni carp but im having problems with getting it to run right i can get it to idle most of the time but my plugs are black and black smoke along with if i punch it, it will just die out if i punch it to hard. but if i turn idle down at all it take about 20 pulls with some gas or spray. and wot itll cut out. and i dont know what to do 100% and dont want to just go messing with it to make it worse and suggestions on what to look at or what to do

Black spark plugs typically mean “too rich” so it is getting more fuel than it can burn. There’s a spark plug chart where you can read your sparkplug(s) to diagnose engine issues. You should be able to find one in cyberspace.

and mikuni carp

Show us the Mikuni Carp! 🐟

Which Mikuni carburetor? It has to match the engine, more or less, or it could be like having a Holley 1150cfm 4-barrel on a 50cc scooter motor.

Edited to add: Too much carburetor for the engine size

Even in cars, everyone over sizes the carbs.
This leads to lazy airflow and poor fuel atomization.
A smaller bore will actually work better up to a point.

The larger bore carb will also come with larger jets.

I agree your running rich. Black smoke, black plugs, and bogs when given throttle.

You can adjust the idle mixture screw to see where you stand.
Start with it about 2.5 turns from seated.
Start the engine and let it warm up.
Slowly adjust the mixture screw. 1/4 turn at a time and let the engine respond.
If the rpm goes up, the engine liked it. Go another 1/4 turn. Repeat till the rpm starts to drop off again. You sometimes will have to adjust the idle stop screw to drop the rpms.

If you run out of mixture screw and still haven't got the mixture right then your jets are wrong and will need to be changed.

Once you get the idle mix right then you can work on the main jets.

The ghost has a 22mm intake valve.
Therefore a 22mm carb would be the properly sized one for that engine.

What size do you have and what jet sizes are in it?
