hi guys I have question I'm using mobil 1 extended performance 15,000 mile of guaranteed protection 10w-30 advanced full synthetic motor oil on my predator engine 212cc is that ok or should I change the oil to a different kind?

I have used Mobil 1 and Extended Performance on 2 18 year old Toro snow blowers and a 16 hp Briggs V Twin with 150 hours on it from day 1 and never a problem. Your results may vary. Be sure you are meeting the manufacturers minimum requirements.

just for reference the owner manual of said chinese engine said - 30W oil. yeap, straight 30w lawn mover engine oil. I used that (brand name) and ten switched to a 10W30 oil but not synthetic oil. I don't think it really matters, the engine runs in low rpm and not exactly a racing engine. If you remove the governor and do some mods to it then I see reason for a synthetic oil.

On the 2 cycle engines which runs 9000-11,000 rpm, I do use synthetic oil. Maybe overkill but they are not that expensive and I don't use that much of it that it would be a huge expense.

The Harbor freight engine runs fine on any oil that is fresh and changed often. Since there is no filter, it is important to change it often though. I change it usually every month when the kids ride the kart and change a lot less frequent during winter when it is only used a few times.
BUT in the winter the condensation could put water into the engine so it is important to run the engine from time to time until it reaches operating temp so the water evaporates.

Well....here's the reality: There's not much difference between these engines and your common lawnmower.

Sad truth is....people buy those lawnmowers and run the crap out of them for over 5 years, without EVER.....ADDING!!!!! ....or changing oil....

So....all of this other crap^^^^^ doesn't mean much if you put it in perspective.

Because here's the REAL skinny: it's not about what some automobile manufacturer does, it's not about what opinion someone has on which oil....but a couple of things.

First off....just because an automobile manufacturer does something it NUMBER ONE: Doesn't by ANY means it's the optimum thing to do!!! There are too many mitigating factors that influence their decisions.....

And.....we can sit here all day....opining about what's a good oil or not....

But....as said a few posts back....the definitive answer is to follow the manual...they don't recommend oil or break in procedures that are LESS THAN IDEAL!!!! They don't want these motors back!!!! Plus, following the manufacturers instructions protects your warranty!

Hate to harp on this....but using synthetic oil for break-in is just WRONG.....on too many levels! !!!
