I heard that the engines have a high idle out of the box, and may need to have the valve lash adjusted. Other than that, I don't think they have any issues that I am aware of. I have seriously considered getting one of these after my fiasco of buying a used honda gx620.....
Anyway, they are definitely cheap and powerful. Lots of torque means lots of stress on stuff that may wear out sooner. So just think of the weak points like sprockets, chain etc...
This is all theoretical, but I was thinking about running dual 420 pitch chain to dual sprockets for the build I have in mind, or going with some reduction and using heavier duty chain and a heavy duty sprocket, because lets face it.... this is a lot of torque for a go kart. The transmission that i am goign to use for mine is a 40 series, which is only rated for up to 18 horsepower so yeah its just too much but I figure what the heck, why not.
the 420cc is great though, and shouldnt require any serious modifications.
Might want to hop over to a mini buggy website as this is something that those guys might stick on there.
