Predator 212. Oil Pump.

I want to add a oil pump on the Predator 212 to be more reliable, but also being one of the first to do so, by putting an oil pump, connected to the crankcase which pumps to the head of the engine, providing oil up there, as not a bunch of oil gets on those rockers, or pushrods. Just curious if this would be cool, or a disaster waiting to happen.

Adding on, I also haven't seen other forums which have the oil pump connected from the crankcase to the head, only the crankcase to the top of the governor hole, to "pressure" feed the connecting rod.

Well, there are millions of predators out there running without oil pumps, so it might not be necessary. Lotsa work, lotsa logistical problems, questionable gains.
i'm not understanding how yer gonna pressure feed the con rod through the governor hole.
there's a good reason nobody does it.

Wasn't going to feed the con rod, but was just saying that other people on other forums said so, but no one has really said anything about this.

??
what do plan on using for a pump? How do ya mount and drive it? Whats it gonna cost?
Sounds like an interesting project, unfortunately l forsee many pitfalls,
this might be a solution in search of a problem.

Japan already has a gx200clone with an oil pump, a guy has developed the engine for kart racing. I'm at work. I'll link his youtube videos when I get in tonight.
The gx is designed to deliver oil to every component, Performance engines suffer from excessive oil in the head area, we have to drill out a larger return hole so the oil can drain back.
Use the correct oil for splash feed systems, a billet rod, and you're good to go. :)

Is it an issue that oil doesn’t get up to the rockers? I’ve seen (and copied) people hog out the oil drain hole (between the pushrods) so the oil doesn’t pool up there.

anyway… always thought this DTV Shredder Engine with oil pump was cool. This one supposedly does feed the rod bearing.

If you're dead set on feeding more oil to the rockers there is a very simple way to do it. Buy a ARC billet side cover (it's already got 2 , 1/8" npt ports in it). Then buy one of the many available thick aluminum valve covers. They usually come with 2 or 3 threaded ports in them. Same thread as the side cover. Run a hose from the side cover to the valve cover, and another from the valve cover to a catch can. Your rocker assembly will be swimming in oil. Both pieces are quite expensive $150 side cover. $40 to $60 valve cover. If you are skilled enough, for the price of a tap and drill bit, $15 max , you can thread the stock parts and achieve the same thing. The pictures in post #7 show something very similar, except I think it's powering a fuel pump. What you're proposing ( oiling the top end ) is done all the time.
