Check my build thread for pictures of my built header and intake with new filter for my new predator. I did not wait to run it to start modifying mine.

Any need to break the engine in?

As far as I know the engine does not need to be broken in, so you should be good.

Forgot all about that trick! Read that in an old Hot Rods mag . The guy was talking about how they made their headers for drag cars and salt flats racers.....
Uhh, where do you get the D port flanges? I have only found B n S flanges like that.

:wai: My late Father taught me that trick, when he was building headers for V8 Ford flatheads. Many moons ago. AGK.com item number AGK600. I see the price has gone up since I last bought them.

Does anyone know a good place to find the parts that I have mentioned above? I have already looked at AGK and a few other sites, but which products and sites have you guys had the best experiences with?

From my experience and the mods youre mentioning I would go with stock carb and new e-tube/ jet.

you can add all the parts youre talking about for $85 through here...

Sooooo, broke the engine in and it seemed to run fine with the header and filter adapter.....

Bolted it up and took it out for a spin and dies when I give it gas.

Brand new engine with header and intake.

Too much? Does it need a jet?

This is what I did...

Grind out any nonflowing angles from header inlet... this helps w/ any whistling sounds... and 'somewhat' improves exhaust flow(exhaust outlet off head is "D" shaped... header inlet grinding should imitate the airflow)...

Cut off stock muffler/muffler mount, from header mount, leave alil 'nub' of pipe... 2 x 90* elbows(elbows diameter slides over pipe 'nub') welded together at desired angle... (depending on muffler diameter/inlet) proper threaded nut welded to pipe end(NOT galvanized!!!)... factory replacement briggs muffler w/ a exhaust pipe that slid over it snugly (cut/welded)... One of Firemanjim's intakes... and a .035 jet...

How it sounds (may wanna listen to this on a good set of speakers... something that registers bass)...

Sometime after the video... I added a 1/2" thick aluminum disk, w/ a hole bored out of it the same diameter as the pipe to the inside end of the muffler sleeve...(attachment)... this created the same 'tone' just alot less resonating(lot less reverb at a distance... quiter:thumbsup:).
