Hey guys, spring has sprung and I got the cart out of the shed for my boys to drive but I'm having problems with the new 212cc Predator.

First thing I noticed is that on a decent left incline, the motor cuts out, as if it was fuel starved. Usually starts right back up but this same spot in the yard causes the same problem every time frustrating dad and son!

So, I let it cool for a bit and went out to start it again and I couldn't even pull the cord. I thought, no way can it be seized, its a new motor. Checked the oil and the oil level was fine. Pulled firmly and the engine turned over but now there is gas pouring out of the exhaust / muffler.

Is there some kind of fuel flow adjustment I missed? Other than the on / off fuel lever I can't find any.

The reason it shuts off its because of the low oil sensor. When you turn, and the oil moves around inside, it sometimes senses the oil level go down and shuts off. Most people, like myself, disconnect the low oil sensor. But im not sure about the other problem, its best to have someone more experienced answer that.

:huh::idea2:

It sounds like you probably have 2 different problems;

1] dying on a hillside, only in the same spot, going the same direction could very well just be the oil sensor. Its basically just a small float switch inside the crankcase; if the oil level around it drops below a certain point, it shuts the ignition off to keep the engine from burning up. This is a pretty good thing to have if the engine is being used for a pump or generator that runs unattended for long periods of time.

2] gas running out of the exhaust after sitting for a short period sounds like float valve inside the carb in the open position; probably from a piece of crud in the fuel. Does this ride have an inline filter between the tank and the carb? If worst came to worst, you might just have to clean the carb.

One BIG question for you; is this motor still under warranty? If it is, you might want to look at swapping it before you tear it apart (especially for the oil level sensor).

Just my 2 cents....... Pat

Yes, the motor is still under warranty. I bought the extended protection plan covering it for two years from HF.

Can someone tell me where to find this low oil sensor switch, I think pulling it is the solution to the stalling issue as it will happen each and every time. I know the oil is at it's top level.

Re the flooding of gas, in the owners manual it suggest tapping on the float bowl with a screwdriver if this happens, I tried it and it worked, no more flooding of gas.

I guess you get what you pay for?!

LOL. If they actually publish this in the owner's manual, they should maybe consider FIXING the problem? Obviously, there's not enough clearance for the float, or it is not sufficiently restrained from lateral movement.

Tapping on the carb bowl used to be "step 1" for any decent mechanic. Ahead of "disconnect the battery", even...

Guess I'm spoiled by modern tec. Never had to do that on any small engine I've ever owned.
