I just got a 212 Predator Hemi. When I started it up, I wanted to see if the yellow wire coming from the oil level sensor would prevent the engine from running if I cut it. When I cut it, it immediately stopped running. Of course, when I re-connected it, the engine would start again. My question is: How do I disconnect the oil level sensor without removing it? Can I simply ground the yellow wire that was previously attached to the sensor? Thanks for any info.

First, there shouls be no need to cut the wire, that's just making life more difficult for yourself, there should be an inline connector, simply disconnect it...

This is merely speculation but, it may be that, with a reconfigured engine, the low oil sensor may also have been reconfigured so that the engine will only run when it's connected; there would be a way around it but, that information will need to come from someone who actually has a hemi & knows how to...

Ok I just got a hemi predator like 2 weeks ago. It's wired exactly the same as the other predators. No change.

What I speculate (and I mean speculate) is that the loose wire that you cut probably is touching/touched the engine block, grounding it out.

So, theoretically, it will run even with the wire cut-as long as the end of the cut wire doesn't touch the engine and ground it out. The only reason I'm asking is because the SECOND I cut the wire, the engine quit. Could this be a coincidence?

Some how the cutters with or the end of the wire(the relay end) made contact with ground, causing the shutdown.

Now that you know it shuts it off, connect a length of wire and a push button switch inline from ground to the relay, use it for a kill switch.

I just got a hemi predator myself. The only way it shuts off is when that black sleeved wire coming from the coil makes contact with ground, the metal of the engine. I agree with the guy who said you might have grounded out the coil as you were cutting through the wire.
