You REALLY need to read Bob's Predator build thread.....Anyway...call Dyno Cams..somewhere in the neighborhood of $15-40.
Oh, that's not bad at all! Maybe I can convince someone in the machining class at my school to do it for me. They made me an adapter for a my sprocket for free.

Send me your head. Give me 2 months and I'll sand it to an unusable finish. lol

I called around my place and nobody wanted to do it. I looked up a place on Craigslist and they quoted like $200. Shipping to Dyno Cams was my best option. It went out today. Should get there on Monday!

I'll be the first to admit... Searching that thread will lead to some good info because I question and try everything LOL but there is a whole bunch of off topic stuff too so you might tire of reading it.

I expect it should be long because everything was brand new to me, but no reason it should be 30+pages. lol Sorry for not keeping it short and simple.

 I think I'll have to decline your generous offer :roflol: milling is going to be later down the line for me I think. I haven't even ever started my engine. I think I'm going to stick to stock piston height and valve lift for now and later down the road I'll get into extra compression and such.

What's the best 1" live axle kit you guys can think of? Preferably under $200

I briefly looked it over just now, but all have to look through it more thoroughly later, so far it seems very informative.

Thanks, I'll check them out! What size tires should I be looking for in my particular application? I've got a 12 tooth clutch and 62 tooth sprocket (I think). I currently have 10" tires but I think I'm going to put that on the shopping cart with the 3hp engine.

You probably miscounted on the axle sprocket....a good way to do it is put a line on the first tooth with a sharpie ...then a dot every ten teeth..and tally up at the end...

You most likely have either a 60 or a 72... If it's 72...you can go to a 13" tall tire...a 60... stick with 10's.

I think it's 65 teeth actually, I know it's in the 60's. I'm not next to it at the moment so that's why I can't check for sure. The sprocket is larger than 60 and smaller than 70, I do know that.

Well....I remember Woodstock was in the sixties too, but can't remember exactly when....Gearing is important...and we need an accurate count...(unless everything is working and you are just looking for direct replacement tires.)

This is where you have to think about your cam shaft selection. It's 7000+ RPM Cam right?

So Let's say you are shooting for Max 7500 RPM. How fast do you want to go? Engine Torque, Engine RPM, Gearing, Tire size all now combine... AND When Our Powers Combine... I am Captain Planet! Wow that show is old! ;)

Check out app.kartcalc.net on a mobile to get ideas and say thanks to sid. I've used it enough where I could help you with the app basics if you need any assistance.

I have all the parts for the karts at my metals class at school so I can check again tomorrow on the size of the sprocket. It does look like a need small tires though.

Only two more days until my flywheel and valves come in, maybe even tomorrow because my last shipment came in a day early so maybe this one will too? :wai: Will the valves fit the stock guides and retainers? I had the guy at the racing shop order them for me so I'm not sure which ones they are specifically, I just know that they are the same size as stock but I'm not sure if I need to buy new retainers and/or guides. I will end up buying new ones anyways but I'm just curious if I should do it right away or wait a little bit and have a bit of fun with the engine first.

I have hit a bit of a road block. I installed the BP-2 cam and all of the other mods on the engine, I installed the flywheel and torqued it down to spec. I was turning the engine over by hand and noticed that due to the increased width of the lobes (because of the increased duration), one of the lobes hit the crankpin journals on the crankshaft. I should have just returned the cam but me, being the idiot I can be, decided to grind a little notch out of the camshaft (ground so that it does not change the duration or the lift at all). Well, I immediately regretted that decision after I thought about the potential consequences. So I am now getting in contact with ARC and seeing if I can return my damaged camshaft or, if not, I will just buy a new one. If, in fact, I do need to buy a new cam, what cam do you suggest? Should I just stick with the BP 2 or go to the mod 2? I have been hearing a lot about the black mamba and black mamba jr, are these worth looking at?

Oh, and they accidentally sent me two intake valves instead of one of each. So now I need to send them back and get the correct ones

Alright, I finally have the engine finished. Here's all the mods one more time: BP2 camshaft, billet flywheel, billet connecting rod, stainless valves, 26lb white stripe springs, automotive style valve keepers and retainers, hardened steel lash caps, governor removed, oil sensor removed, ruixing carburetor, gx140 Emulsion tube, .036" main jet, new air filter and adaptor, thinner metal head gasket, throttle plate, new spark plug and a new header. Once the break-in period is over, I will put it on the dyno. The engine is running perfectly, I've adjusted the fuel/air mixture screw until I thought it was running the best, I ran the engine, no black smoke or excessive popping, checked the spark plug and all looks good. Is the manufacturer recommended 3 hour break in period still true after all these mods? One more question though, a few of you may have seen my Malibu virage go kart build and I think I have decided to take a different route than that. I am looking to sell my virage car and I want to buy a new frame to put my Yamaha xj600 4 cylinder motorcycle engine on to take to the sand dunes. What frame do you guys suggest I use? I want it to be popular so that I can buy it off craigslist, I need a roll cage, and built well for the sand dunes. Any suggestions?
