It might be valve float it's supposed to happen around 5500 rpm on stock clones, although I've never experienced any pulsing with my clone and I've had it up near the 7k mark.Still trying to figure out how it does that stock.

For comparative (scientific) purposes, how are you measuring that?
As far as how it happens, it's all in the springs. They can tend to flutter at a certain RPM, but with all the various manufacturers and parts suppliers, there is a large possible margin.
I'm using a digital tach and its a princes auto power fist clone.
I know that I'm getting that rpm under load as well because I checked the speed with a gps an used a reverse speed calc to get the rpm and it out put something around 6800.
yea i think i will move the governor return spring because it creates a lot of tension making it hard to get the throttle all the way open. would the throttle valve in the pic affect my performance at wot?
